Sakura or cherry blossom is blooming in Kyoto area. Sakura, a national symbolic flower of Japan, is very popular not only in Japan but also worldwide. Nevertheless, this famous flower blooms only for a very short periods of time, between 7-10 days. Sakura favourite’s time to bloom is in the beginning of spring. Thus, this flower is like a symbol that spring has just come. Therefore during this time, Japanese normally go to enjoy Sakura and do other kind activities like chatting, drinking, eating, taking photos, etc. There is a special name for this occasion in Japanese which is called “Hanami”.Near to my research center, inside the Kyoto University, Uji Campus, luckily there is a road where rows of Sakura trees are planted. Those Sakura trees serve as if there was a long gate. Nevertheless, there are some famous places in Kyoto that people normally go in this Hanami event. My wife’s Japanese teacher told that in Kyoto there is one place where for Sakura sightseeing is one of the most famous places in Japan. “Wow, we should go there, I supposed. Yet I am not sure if this week we still could catch the sakura blooming there.
Sakura is obviously famous and popular tree (flowers) in this country. In my dormitory, there are a few Sakura trees planted while on the hill in the back of my house, from far we can see Sakura tree blooming there. Not to mention some Sakura trees that live in some lots in front of residents’s houses.
According to my Japanese colleague, the Sakura season does not take the same time all over Japan, in stead it will bloom gradually starting from Southern area and then goes towards the North. Kyoto and Tokyo are located in the central Japan and therefore in these areas, Sakura blooms in almost the same time while in the northern part, such as Sapporo, Hokkaido Islands, Sakura will bloom later on.

[...] Anda tentu tahu Sakura? [...]
